Directions
This is a very simple variation of the tin cup necklace. The length on the example is 34" and can be worn as a single strand or an adjustable double strand. The clasp is an s-hook which catches the silk where ever you'd like.
Working with a single card of silk thread with attached needle make your first knot approximately 2 inches from the end of the silk and start your beading pattern. Keep the size and weight of your bead groupings fairly consistent so the strand will hang evenly when complete. With each bead set I first string a 2mm silver bead, then the glass, stone or pearls, and end with another 2mm silver bead. With wear the knots will tighten and thin out and could cause your beads to slip. This stops the bead set from sliding over the knot. Following the tin cup necklace instructions knot your strand to 34". At last bead set tie off the knot with the other end of the strand as tightly to the bead as possible to close off the necklace. Put a drop of jeweler's cement on the knot and let dry before nipping the thread ends. After completely dry trim the ends tightly to the knot. Roll between fingers to smooth edges. Catch the silk with the s-hook on opposite sides of the loop and you're done!
The matching bracelet is strung on softflex cord with matching beads and a pretty focal wire wrapped to the toggle clasp. In this case the focal is a pressed glass leaf bead from India.
The earrings have matching focal beads (to the bracelet) matching accent beads (to necklace & bracelet) and are wirewrapped on 1-1/2" headpins with french earwires.
