Tale Of A Seahorse Necklace

Tale Of A Seahorse NecklaceThe creator of this piece says: First I formed the frame by hand - no solder here, all cold connections. Once the frame was secured I used countless feet of hair thin wire to stitch the hundreds of 2mm - 4mm sterling silver beads. I added some beautiful blue apatite beads around the belly for a splash of color, and another in a herringbone wrap for his eye.

Aventurine briolettes were used for his fins. A little LOS and a lot of polishing later, I had my seahorse.

I later created this wavy coiled chain with the hopes of giving the impression of ocean waves, using apatites wrapped in herringbones to link the coiled sections together.

About the Artist: Delia Stone

I've been working with wire since 1990. While I incorporate some precious stones in to my work I prefer the interest and variety that semiprecious stones create. I am inspired primarily by the natural world and all the amazing elements that make up the greater whole.
